Just an archive of any thoughts I had while watching Lord of Mysteries

Episode 1-2

1 6/28/2025, 12:34:12 AM I was super excited for Lord of Mysteries since I've heard such good things about the series, and it definitely delivered!
I could tell that they were speeding through a LOT of lore and worldbuilding, but as an anime(donghua?)-only, I was able to at least get the gist of the story. The production values on this show are insane.

1 7/15/2025, 8:53:04 AM For anyone who is interested in reading Lord of Mysteries, Webnovel is running a promotion on the app right now where you get a 24hr pass that unlocks ALL the chapters!
It's an easy way to get a start on reading the series! The first 40 chapters are also always free.
2 7/15/2025, 9:06:26 AM Also, if you're a little more technically able, you can use WebtoEpub and download all the chapters for later!
Note: I'm only doing this because I already have the physical novels pre-ordered, please support the author.

Episode 6

1 7/26/2025, 12:23:47 AM I haven't been liveblogging thoughts or anything for this show, but honestly each episode has been gripping (even if I don't know all the details yet).
This episode focused on Azik Eggers and Klein, and I thought the focus on Azik's backstory gave the series some needed grounding. It doesn't matter what crazy powers are at play here, poor Azik keeps living eternally, doomed to forget his family(ies).
Could Klein be (biologically) related to him somehow? It's certainly possible since Azik has lived for so long. Even if not, I think Azik thinks of Klein like a son.
Even though Klein was isekai'd/transmigrated, I appreciate that he really wants to go home; it's actually reminiscent of more classic isekai series, like Twelve Kingdoms.

1 8/5/2025, 3:11:18 PM My copy of Lord Of Mysteries Volume 1 came in finally!
Excited to dig in! It's a really thick book (see ORV for comparison)

1 8/10/2025, 10:21:58 PM Ohh Lord of Mysteries is confirmed to have a full adaptation planned!
6 seasons and a movie! Apparently it was revealed in a Tencent livestream.

2 8/10/2025, 10:24:39 PM It's gonna take 10 years (understandable with how long the series is) but I'll definitely read all the novels before then (even at 3 novels a year, Yen Press should finish in 6 years).
When I think of how long I've been watching One Piece, it doesn't feel that long at all.

2 8/13/2025, 4:45:34 PM I honestly wish I hadn't started this series since the wait for the next book is going to be excruciating!
At the same time, I'm happy that I can't possibly binge it, since I 100% would devour this entire series if I could (waiting for the Yen Press editions since the translation is better).

Episode 10-11

1 8/29/2025, 8:48:33 PM I thought last episode was heartbreaking but this is even worse.
😖 Will anyone still be alive in the Nighthawks by the end of this season? What the HECK is going on with Captain Dunn???
Poor Kenley 😭
I'm almost afraid to watch the next episodes....

This episode felt so short omg...I was literally on the edge of my seat.

There's also so much weird stuff going on, like apparently there's some sort of old spirit watching over Leonard? And he's trying to get Leo to MOVE AWAY from the evil bomb. (No wonder he's so chuuni lol)

I'm glad we cleared up the misunderstanding with Dunn, but it just makes me sadder :C

I'm really hoping everyone survives (RIP to the ones who already died).

Omg episode 13 of Lord of Mysteries was even more heartbreaking the last couple ones 😭

I so desperately want to read the novel but the next one comes out in December OTL.

2 9/12/2025, 9:28:23 PM

Klein will never get to see his family again, because everyone thinks he's dead 😭 😭😭

And Leonard is now trying to ascend in the Nighthawks to get stronger after being completely wiped....

This was absolutely heartbreaking, especially at the end where he said goodbye to his family in the only way he could 😢

ALSO Sequence 4 is such a high level, I'm sure Klein will have to build himself back up with a new identity and resources. Luckily he's still got his Tarot Club crew.

But it's hilarious his next assumed identity is going to be "Sherlock Moriarty" LOL. Sounds like Moriarty's wish come true.

4 9/12/2025, 9:33:33 PM

The wait for this series (both the donghua and the anime) is going to be excruciating, I'm just going to have to fill the void with other novels...

Does anyone have any other Chinese novel recommendations? I'd be really interested in trying anything with good worldbuilding and power systems, or just something you think I'd like.

I really liked LOTM and ORV so far. As far as JP light novels, I'm a huge fan of Ascendance of a Bookworm, Apothecary Diaries, and Ishura.
